a roughly guess of repeating users
my hosting-service is using webalizer http://www.webalizer.org/webalizer_help.html
there is a tip: "Tip:Â By looking at the difference between hits and files, you can get a rough indication of repeat visitors, as the greater the difference between the two, the more people are requesting pages they already have cached (have viewed already)."
if i follow this tip i got 30k repeating visitors in the last six months

this equals to besuche (visits) of 23K/six month with having the 30min-timeout while counting
'Whenever a visitor visits your site with his assigned IP address, the time that has passed since the last request is calculated. If the time period is longer than the configured "visit timeout" time of 30 minutes or if a request has never been received from this visitor, the request is noted as a new visit and the number of visits is increased (both for the site and for the IP address). So if a user visits the page at 1:00 p.m. and then again at 3:00 p.m., two visits would be counted. Please note that in the table "Top Sites" the total visits are related to grouped lists and are seen as the minimum number of visits of a grouping. Please also note that the "Visits" only appear in the statistics if the URL from which they come is recognized by the server as a page (see Pages). Due to the limitations of the HTTP protocol, log rotation and other (disruptive) factors, the result should not be seen as an absolute number, but rather as a relatively accurate approximation'...it could be the una-viewer-counter is too slow

the picture of my last post have ~120kb. if i take this as the average data-transfer-size/click or view, then i got over 40k! in six months
it is a conservative estimate, as the browsers cache smaller pre-view version of the original pictures and only if users click on it to see it in original size- it downloads the picture completely
